Those of you that know me, know that I’m a MAHOOSIVE Carole Matthew fan since I read her very first book, and she has completely knocked it out of the park with her latest book Paper Hearts and Summer Kisses (which incidentally is her 29th novel!!). The hardback and ebook have been published first and are available now, followed by the paperback in April 2017.
Carole will be joining me soon in my “A Chat With” feature so hope you’ll come back and join me for that. In the meantime, this is what I thought of Paper Hearts and Summer Kisses.
This is such a rollercoaster of a book but such a feel-good, inspiring page-turner that I completely devoured in a very short amount of time.
It was like a Cinderella fairytale where I wanted to be cast in the leading lady role. I could so see this book on screen. It would make such a fabulous film.
I adored the character of single mom Christie, so “got” the amazing bond between her and her son Finn and loved the relationship she had with her parents too. They were just amazing! I wished I was part of this family that would do anything for each other. The devastating event in their lives affected me quite hard and made me feel every flipping emotion going. I did have a little cry in more than one moment. It also made me realise what people have to go through and got me questioning how I would have felt in that position (fingers crossed I never have to find out!).
And OMG! Max! Do I need to say more. I fell in love with this leading man and think I need to go to Washington and find him for myself.
Carole’s books feel so effortless to read. You just pick the story up from the first page and lose yourself in another world which becomes the norm. So easy to turn the pages and then feel upset that you’re reaching the end. I actually do feel quite bereft and feel like this book was just the beginning of another story!
Paper Hearts & Summer Kisses gave me the message to follow your dreams and your passions, and you never know where it could take you. Have a little faith and a whole lot of hope and determination and drive. And with fabulous people behind you, helping you along the way who knows what the future may hold.
Love, love, love this book! I give it a stonking 5 stars and more if I could!
