It’s not often these days that I get chance to read books that I really want to read as I’m either booked on blog tours or reading Bookouture books but when I saw that CL Taylor’s The Escape was on NetGalley, I couldn’t resist requesting it!
I’m so glad I did too! It was such a great story, the tension builds and builds from the very first page. If ever a book deserves the title of a page turner, then this one certainly does!
The cover is dark and mysterious and I was dying to read it! I’ve read all her other books too and loved them all.
I picked it up in the evening and sat up reading till REALLY late and felt like a zombie the following day. Not just because I was tired but also because the sense of doom was just building and building and I hadn’t got a bloody clue who was telling the truth! As the story unfolds, I found myself shouting at Jo, and trying to help her, but I didn’t seem to be able to work out who was against her and who was her friend.
This was a book that messed with my head big time! It’s so difficult to say why without giving the plot away but oh my! This was such an amazing read.
It’s hard not to say that CL Taylor’s writing gets better with each book, but I really do think that this was her best yet. To leave me with a dark, feeling of trepidation deep in the pit of my stomach, not knowing which way to turn pure brilliance.
CL Taylor is one very talented writer! And this is one pretty goddamn amazing book!
If you’ve not yet read one of her books, what on earth are you waiting for?
